Bell sat atop a very frisky, impatient, black stallion. Sacred Calling had his neck arched, sitting on the bit as he fidgeted under his rider's weight. Bell nodded to the man with the stop watch, to signal she was ready, On your marks, get set...BANG Sacred didn't need to be told twice, he shot out of the starting pen and moved into full speed. Bell fought to settle the stag, she sat deep, and half halted him several times, speaking to him soothingly until he hesitantly slowed to a strong, but balanced canter, just before the decent down the steep bank. Bell kept Sacred securely between hand and leg, keeping his for-hand light. When the log arrived just at the bottom of the hill horse and rider sored effortlessly over the jump. The second element wasn't far ahead. Bell moved her hands more generously with her mount's movements and squeezed lightly. Sacred almost skipped into a gallop, the line was slightly a asque from the shift of gear. Bell gently eased her right leg onto Sacred's side and he shifted his hind quarters away until the pressure stopped and they were lined up. Bell was sure to keep a constant contact as they almost bounced up the steps like a rubber ball, then slipped down the drops like a slinky. the ditch wasn't far ahead. Sacred hardly noticed and just did an exaggerated stride over the top. when the trakehner was approached Bell realized the stride was all wrong. she eased her hands a little tighter on the reins and squeezed a little with her legs in an attempt to gather the stride again. but her efforts were in vain. He still made it over but scraped the top of the fence with one of his back legs, causing him to peck on landing, but Bell supported him with her legs and kept a firm contact giving him every opportunity to pick himself up again, and that's what he did. leeped up and for wards. the accuracy fences that were just ahead were no bother for Sacred, in fact, accuracy fences were his best. His ears pricked and he bobbed over them with apparent ease. Bell placed both reins in one hand and used her free one to smooth over his hot, sticky neck. Soon she needed both hands again as she hurriedly approached the bounce into water. the bounce into water is, after all considered the hoardest level of water jumps. Sacred approached un headed, he slipped over the jumps, and into the cool water. the liquid splashed up around them, refreshing both horse and rider. The blue water forced sacred to slow to a bounce canter. the implosion was still strong though, the log in the water did present some problem and Sacred just managed to just skim over the top, the grease on his back legs proved to be to some use. The step out was even more arduous with neither mount nor rider ready for it, Sacred almost threw himself at the jump in a desperate attempt to get out. and he just managed to scramble up. the coffin combination was far enough away for the pair to regain they're balance, implosion and speed. Sacred was starting to tire. he flared his nostrils to gather more air, his coat dripping, partly from water, partly from sweat. He snorted with every stride now, almost pulling himself along. Bell stroked his neck comfortingly, "come on boy! for me." she said. Sacred seemed to understand. he shot his head up and dishes flashed forward, focusing on the coffin combination. He cat leeped over the first jump, but was focusing too much on the ditch to jump is properly. He left another leg behind, scrapping it over the top. His head shot up to try and stay on his hind hand. Bell balanced him again and then lengthened the stride. they did one stride then glided over the ditch, did another stride then jumped the 3rd element with immense improvement. Sacred pulled all the energy he could to keep going. He basically fell into the sunken road, then lurched out. He did another dramatic leap over the solid fence, just skimming over the top. he pounded up the hill side then flew off the edge, he just made it over the ditch, but landed unsettled. Sacred charged off, determined to finish what he'd started. he scraped over the two corners, just missing a fall and pelted over the finish line. Bell patted him warmly, "good boy sacred! good boy!" she praised. the black stallion was covered in foamy sweat. his head hung low as he breathed heavily. Bell dismounted, ran up her stirrups and loosened the girth. "good boy, good work." she continued to praise. the time was amazingly good considering the mistakes they'd made.
